QUATECH WI-FI MODULES PAIRED WITH SPRINGBOARD CONCIERGE TAKES GROCERY SHOPPING TO A NEW LEVEL
Quatech partners with Springboard to deliver Wi-Fi capabilities for the CONCIERGE system

HUDSON, OHIO – November 12, 2008 – Quatech, Inc., a leader in wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) networking and device connectivity solutions, has partnered with Springboard Retail Networks Inc. to develop a Wi-Fi module for the CONCIERGE® shopping system.
The CONCIERGE system is an interactive touch-screen computer console that attaches to the push handle of a shopping cart and provides services such as personalized account recognition, product scanning and self check-out. The CONCIERGE system functions as an electronic store flyer, displaying store news, promotions and product announcements.

Springboard joined forces with Quatech in 2007, seeking Quatech’s expertise in developing a Wi-Fi module for the CONCIERGE system. Quatech’s technical experience and extensive knowledge in wireless solutions, ranging from hospital environments to industrial warehouses, were the qualities Springboard needed in a partner to help deliver the CONCIERGE shopping system.

“We thought this idea was so cool. It’s such an interesting application of the technology,” said Steve Runkel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Quatech. “We’re really energized and excited to be working with Springboard because we’re helping to re-shape and improve the shopping experience for consumers.”

Quatech’s Wi-Fi module is an essential component of the CONCIERGE system, providing real-time data communication. Information can be updated and transmitted between CONCIERGE-equipped shopping carts and the store network database.

“We’re delighted to be working with Quatech. They have technical capabilities and experience in developing innovative wireless solutions for diverse industries,” said Sylvain Perrier, Vice President of Technology for Springboard Retail Networks. “We knew their expertise would be an important ingredient in our CONCIERGE® shopping system and in our vision to transform the relationships among retailers, consumers and advertisers.”

The module connects easily to the CONCIERGE system and uses the 802.11a standard, which minimizes signal conflict, disruption and degradation. Quatech also offers a simple and smooth upgrade path as wireless chipsets, architectures and standards evolve.
