Description
Quatech's new wireless ThinQ serial device servers connect RS-422
and RS-485 serial communications-equipped devices to local and wide-area
networks without routing Ethernet cables. These new devices integrate
either Linksys® or Cisco® Aironet® wireless engines with the
already best-in-class ThinQ serial device servers to provide the best-performing,
most flexible wireless serial-to-Ethernet servers on the market.
Quatech's ThinQ serial device servers are engineered to Motorola®
digital dna standards featuring a PowerPC® core with an on-board
RISC communications processor. This dual-CPU design, the auto-sensing
10/100 Ethernet interface, and Quatech's proven high-speed, 921k-baud
serial technology offer the best performance in the industry and ensure
that your critical business applications won't be harmed by data throughput
or latency issues.
Easy to set up and install, ThinQ serial device servers are up and running
on your network in 10 minutes or less. A unique Installation Wizard automatically
searches for and identifies any ThinQ unit attached to the network, even
searching remote subnets if needed. No client software is installed on
your PC, just a small set of drivers that configures each ThinQ serial
port as a new COM port on the PC. This allows software applications to
access the attached serial device as they are designed to, with no custom
programming needed. Simply point your software application to the new,
"virtual" COM port and you're all set!
The SSEW-200/300L single port RS-422/485 wireless serial device server
can be configured for either RS-422 or RS-485 communication in either
full-duplex or half duplex mode. This model offers Linksys® wireless
connectivity and depending on location and signal strength, these units
dynamically shift between 11, 5.5, 2 and 1 Mbps network speeds for consistent
performance, availability and flexibility. They are interoperable with
most IEEE 802.11b-compliant, 2.4 GHz DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum)
access points and provide support for 128-bit WEP security protocols.
The SSEW "L" models also include a high-powered, built-in antenna.
The SSEW-200/300C single port RS-422/485 wireless serial device server
can also be configured for either RS-422 or RS-485 communication in either
full-duplex or half duplex mode. This model is intended for those applications
requiring Cisco® Aironet® 350 Series compatibility and performance.
These industry-leading products install seamlessly into any centralized
security protocol used on existing Cisco Aironet 350 Series Access Points
and Bridges. With a full 100-milliwatt (mW) of transmit power and the
best receive sensitivity in the industry, the SSEW "C" models
provide the longest range and best reliability available anywhere. It
has a standard RP-TNC connector for the maximum flexibility in selecting
the best antenna for each application. A 5.5 dBi Rubber Duck antenna is
available as an option.
Quatech's "virtual" COM drivers and the Installation Wizard
are available for Windows NT4/2000/XP and Linux. ThinQ can be deployed
successfully in almost any OS environment however, including Unix and
Solaris, via Raw TCP (socket) mode or Quatech's exclusive IntelliSock
mode. IntelliSock is a flexible and powerful TCP socket service for custom
applications that provides capabilities beyond that of Raw TCP mode, such
as re-configuring the serial port parameters in the packet header sent
with each data transfer. A free Software Developer's Kit (SDK) explains
more about this unique feature.
**Note: Wireless ThinQ serial device servers are available
for sale to destinations within North America only. Other international
customers, please contact your Authorized Quatech distributor for estimated
delivery schedule.
