Entertainment Applications--EPP Parallel PCMCIA Cards

Application: Stock Car Race Scoring
Quatech Products Used: SPP-100 EPP Parallel PCMCIA Card

The United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR) Hooters ProCup Series uses the AMB transponder scoring system as one of three scoring methods. The system is implemented by placing transponder detection points at between eight and 50 locations around the track. It uses a dedicated dot matrix printer using LPT1 to record each passing of each transponder. The SPP-100 provides a second LPT2 port for printing the running order at scheduled lap segments (usually every 50 laps) for the working press. Additionally, a network hub provides a link for race control, the announcer and to the TV production truck to receive constant rundown of position, lap times and separation from the leader through a second monitor program.
