Engineering
Senior Hardware Engineer
Design and develop cost-effective electronic products for industrial and embedded systems.
Position entails design of new products, extension of current product lines, and sustaining
work on mature product lines. Products are focused on wired and wireless device networking
and device connectivity. Creativity and initiative are two important characteristics of the
successful candidate. Position will be based in Northeast Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Developing product specifications.
- Evaluating technical feasibility of sales and marketing requirements.
- Estimating design effort and development time.
- Investigating and selecting components.
- Estimating cost of goods sold.
- Conceiving and creating circuit schematics. Generating netlists, bills of material, etc.
- Composing programmable logic for any FPGAs or CPLDs.
- Directing and guiding layout of printed circuit boards.
- Initial bring-up and troubleshooting of prototypes.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving, including root cause failure analysis.
- Working closely with software and firmware engineers.
- Characterizing and evaluating of 802.11 radio performance.
- Constructing and executing validation test plans.
- Managing FCC/CE compliance testing for production candidate designs.
- Supervising transition into production (including generation of the requisite ISO-9000 paperwork, hardware reference material, manuals and datasheets).
- Designing and implementing production functionality tests and test fixtures where appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years equivalent work experience.
- Successful design of high-volume electronic products.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire new skills and knowledge.
- Highly desirable skills and experience include:
- Use of RF test equipment
- Analog design skills
- Wireless protocol experience (Zigbee, Bluetooth, RFID, etc.)
