Quatech
to Enter RFID Market
Quatech
is developing a complete line of RFID readers for a variety of computing
environments, including mobile and stationary applications. Implemented
with advanced SkyeTek RFID reader modules, these new devices will
deliver the best in RFID technology coupled with the proven reliability
of Quatech connectivity products.
"This
new RFID line is a natural progression of our rich history of helping
customers address serial, network, and mobile connectivity requirements,"
said Steve Runkel, Quatech's President and CEO. "RFID is the
latest execution of our strategy to provide products that Quatech
customers use to leverage their investments in current systems while
taking advantage of the latest technology advances."
"SkyeTek
is pleased to partner with Quatech to develop innovative RFID reader
solutions that leverage Quatech's extensive expertise in data connectivity,"
said Jonathan Bein, Ph.D., SkyeTek's president. "This partnership
is positioned to meet a growing demand for RFID devices across a
wide variety of computing environments."
Quatech's
new RFID line will include readers for PCMCIA, SDIO, serial and
Bluetooth interfaces. In addition, we will produce wired and wireless
network-enabled devices. In conjunction with SkyeTek, we displayed
our first prototype--a network-enabled RFID reader that can be remotely
accessed and controlled via Ethernet--at the RFID World conference
in Denver, CO on April 20-22, 2004. Products are scheduled for release
at the end of 2004.
