New
High Performance Device Servers with Power at Port

New
products provide +5 V at the port, ideal for powering barcode scanners,
RFID readers and other serial devices used in POs, materials handling,
and supply chain applications.
Quatech
added two Device Server models to an industry-leading product line
that already boasts the highest data transfer rates and lowest latency
available.
"Customers
in many different industries have been extremely satisfied with
the ease of use and performance superiority of our Device Servers,"
says Steve Runkel, Quatech's President and CEO. "Building on
that success, we continue to address customer demands for features
that meet the specific needs of important vertical markets."
The
new products, the SSE-100D-5V and DSE-100D-5V, are ideal for use
in the POs, material handling and supply chain markets, among others.
Equipped with one (SSE) or two (DSE) serial ports, the new 100D-5V
models include surge suppression and +5V power out on the industry-standard
DB-9 connector. The +5V can be used to power many serial peripherals
such as barcode scanners and RFID readers through the serial port,
eliminating the need for a dedicated power supply for those devices
even while network-enabling them.
In
addition to port power and surge suppression, these models offer
all the other benefits of Quatech's premium line of Device Servers.
Superior performance is derived from the industry's best processor,
a PowerPC® from Freescale (formerly Motorola® Semiconductor),
part of a world-class architecture that boosts throughput and reduces
latency to the lowest levels possible. This allows a whole new class
of serial devices to communicate over an Ethernet network without
modifying host software designed to use COM ports.
