New
4- and 8-Port MEI Device Servers
Multi-port models offer software-selectable RS-232/422/485 interfaces
on all ports for maximum performance and flexibility
Quatech
Inc., a world-class manufacturer of device networking solutions,
announced today the addition of two Device Server models to a product
line offering the highest data transfer rates and lowest latency
in the industry.
The
new products in the Quatech line, the QSE-400D and ESE-400D, are
ideal for industrial and commercial use. Equipped with four (QSE)
or eight (ESE) serial ports that can be software configured for
RS-232, 422 or 485 operation on each available port, they surpass
other marketplace offerings in versatility, flexibility and ease
of use for Multi Electronic Interface products.
"In
addition to the industry's most powerful and flexible design, some
key differences in our MEI products lie in the small details,"
says Steve Runkel, Quatech's President and CEO. "From multi-color
LEDs that let users know at a glance which interface is being used
on each port, to the radio buttons in the browser interface that
let them easily configure the ports in seconds, our products convey
quality throughout. Additionally, the power of our Device Server
architecture scales up nicely to multi-port units and the performance
advantage is even more pronounced than on the one and two-port models."
The
performance and flexibility of the 400D series is derived from the
industry's most powerful processor, a PowerPC® from Freescale
(formerly Motorola® Semiconductor). This processor is part of
a world-class architecture that offers the lowest latency available
anywhere. As a result, it is now possible to easily network-enable
even the most timing-sensitive applications and equipment. Industrial
sensors, CNC machines, automated meter readers, biometric equipment
and other serial devices can operate flawlessly over a network,
as the 400D series provides the absolute minimum data transfer time
possible. A choice of powerful operating modes allows smooth deployment
on almost any Ethernet network, regardless of the operating system
in use. Quatech also provides strong steel enclosures that are durable
yet leave a small footprint.
The
new 400D series will be available on April 30, 2005. List price
for the QSE-400D is $525; the ESE-400D is $825.
